This summer, Champaign Unit 4 high school students who elected to be a part of the Summer Trades Program gained real-world experience in on-the-job work across various trades.
Unit 4 and Local Union 149 collaborated to provide this opportunity to high school students. The goals of the two week program are as follows:

Centennial High School is proud to announce the Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020. This group exemplified athletics at the highest level during and after their careers at Centennial.
Inductees were nominated by a Hall of Fame committee and will be the third class inducted since the honor originated.

Sikich, a respected forensic accounting firm, was engaged to review Unit 4’s P-Card policies and procedures, analyze P-Card transactions and supporting documentation, and interview relevant staff to determine if current P-Card practices align with best practices and effective internal controls. The report details Sikich’s investigation into this matter. The report provides recommendations designed to reduce the District’s risk of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement and to align processes with best practices.
At the Board of Education meeting on Monday, June 10, 2019, the Board approved multiple administrative appointments:
Champaign Unit 4 School District will be offering free to the public, historic brick street pavers that have been excavated from the vacated portion of Park Ave. The excavation is part of the construction work to make way for the expansion of Central High School. The pavers will be available at the east end of the former YMCA parking lot at 500 W. Church Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning June 10, 2019 for any interested parties to collect, salvage, and self-load and haul away. The pavers will be available for a limited time on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Beginning Monday, June 3 Central High School and South Side Elementary School administration personnel will relocate during area summer construction work.
During this period, Central’s temporary offices will be located at the ACTIONS Building at 402 N. Randolph St.
The temporary office location for South Side will be Center for Family and Community Engagement (also known as the Mellon Building) at 703 S. New St.
Summer school begins June 3 for high school students and June 10 for middle school students. Limited bus service will be provided with daily AM and PM stops for all sessions. A full schedule is available in PDF format.

The Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation (CUSF) honored Jefferson Middle School English Language Arts teacher Jill Cappa May 23 as one of its two 2019 Cupcake Award recipients. Selected teachers are nominated by their peers and exhibit exemplary service, extra efforts, enthusiastic attitude, and innovative ideas that noticeably benefit their students.
During her 15 years at Jefferson, Cappa has taught writing, social studies, and reading in addition to serving as a cross country and volleyball coach, teacher mentor, and union steward.
Champaign Unit 4 district leaders, board members and Central High School representatives joined Superintendent Dr. Susan Zola, Board President Amy Armstrong, and Principal Joe Williams Thursday for a groundbreaking ceremony at McKinley Field. The event kicks off a construction and renovation of the historic athletics venue.

Don’t delay: schedule your student’s physical/immunizations today!
Call your provider to schedule your student’s appointment. Students who have not completed a school physical by September 1 will be excluded from attending school until all required examinations and vaccinations have been completed.
All entering Kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade students are required to have proof of a physical and required immunizations. Students entering 12th grade have a vaccine requirement only. Appointment cards will not be accepted as proof of physical and immunizations.
